The Draft Broadcasting Amendment Bill was published on 4 July 2008. It was introduced by Members of Parliament. Its main purpose was to allow for the removal of individual SABC Board members and the dissolution of the Board as a whole. The legislation also allowed for the establishment of an interim Board. With the removal of the Board as a whole it was necessary to put an interim Board in place while a new “permanent” board was selected.
